As you may be aware, the Ministry of Education announced that schools across BC will close indefinitely in an attempt to slow down and control the spread of COVID-19. As a result, we will be suspending all McBride PAC activities including PAC meetings, hot lunch, school fundraising, and our Summer Carnival. We are disappointed but know this is the right decision to ensure everyone stays healthy and to ensure our finances are in good shape moving into the 2020/2021 school year.
We are hopeful the school will open quickly and our children will be back in class sooner rather than later. We are hopeful the Vancouver School Board will move forward with our new playground as scheduled. However, the situation is unprecedented and things are changing quickly. We just don’t know what to expect. We promise to share updates as we learn what is going on.
While classroom lessons are suspended it is expected that schools will implement a variety of measures to ensure continued learning for students. Details will be shared by the Vancouver School Board as they becomes available. We promise to share news and information with you as we learn more.
We want to thank you for your contributions and support to date. What a year! You are an amazing community. Let’s continue to work together and support each other in these uncertain times. And let’s look forward to celebrating our school, playground and community as soon as we are able.
We would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you, if you have the means, to support the local businesses both in our neighbourhood and across the city. Many of these businesses rely on income made during spring breaks, spring activities, and lunch sales, and they provide invaluable services to our school and our community. If you are one of these businesses and are adapting your business to respond to COVID-19 please feel free to let us know, and we will share these initiatives on our Facebook page.
Sincerely,
McBride PAC Executive
